Evaporation and humidity will help, but it is a little bit trickier than replacing the molding.
The molding is a thin sheet of fabric which has a layer of plastic which holds it together.
If the moisture inside the sheet evaporates, the plastic gets too thin and it breaks, and this can lead to cracks and breakage.
To repair a cracked molding, first you must get rid of the moisture.
This can be done with a moisture absorber (a sponge soaked in water) or a moisture matting, which is used to soak up water from the floor.
If you can’t get rid or remove moisture from the sheet, you will have to replace the sheet.
Here are the steps:1.
Take a moisture absorbing sponge soaked with water and place it on the floor to absorb moisture.
Put a sheet of plastic on top of the sponge.2.
Wash the sheet with warm water.
Let it dry for 20 minutes.3.
Apply a moisture matrix, which holds the sheet together.4.
Repeat the same process for another 2 hours, or up to 24 hours.5.
Clean the flooring with a damp cloth.
